49.74s

Right, so we finally managed to run our season opener 400m!

Ran 100m on saturday with a not so good time of 11.16s, was looking forward to swift meet 100m this coming sunday but guess what! It has been postponed until i dont know when.

Anyhow, 49.74. Not bad i must say. But i'm not surprised either. It's abit of both of a morale booster, yet i should be hitting an early 49s. Nonetheless, it was a well paced run i must say. No wind, no sun. Could have done better in the last 50m, but managed to hang on over 3rd placed Subiash. Kenneth was 1st in 49.11s. Need to train harder. Need to hit that elusive 48s by the next 4 months. I can do it. I know i can.

Used ASICS SP STEALTH for the race, which had lacers which suppose to be better for curve turning, and surpising reducing weight,  together with a thiner material profile, offering lighter weight of a few precious grams compared to my cyberstealth JP.

Honestly i was alittle "Scared" for the race today. I've ran 400m almost 50 or more times in my life, but every race is a new race. Plus, i didnt end the season so well last year, i was both anxious and nervous about my form, about the time it will show. Alas, a sub 50 gave me a breather. But there's still much more work ahead.

Back to Econs, maths, mle.

A red weekend

LIVERPOOL 4 - MANCHESTER UNITED 1.

I turned on the tee vee at 20+ min and first thing i see is the first penalty awarded to manU. gosh. i thought that's it man. liverpool lose already, so i channel surfed and when i turned back, woohoo, i got to see the goal in real time just as the ball was misjudged by vidic, torressssssssssss!! and of course the, i would say, unfortunate tackle by evra. I think the ball bounce was quite hard to judge as commentator said the wind was very strong. Then came half time and back to net surfing, came back at 50+ min, and omg liverpool was playing in their half for like 15+ minutes lah, such was ManU's attack, and liverpool's sense of defending. Anyhow, i'm in two minds about the red card. It's not harsh in a sense that vidic knew what he was doing. Harsh that as in the rule book, ferdinand was the last man. Resulted in a goalkeeper rooted free kick, and a route 1 sublime chip by liverpool number 2! cant remb his name tho. starts with D and has lotsa O and S. and an A somewhere.haha

100m today! not very good :/ 11.16s. oh well. try again next weekend at swift! :D extremely delighted for elfi! new pb by a mile and a super break into the national team.

400m tmr. eeps. 23.5s? it's gonna start hurting at 170m.

A low 49s will do nicely thank you.

I love my grandparents. I miss them during weekdays. Especially so because every second with them counts, for you never know when it'd be the last weekend you see them again. I'm not implying anything. It's just that reality kicks in that hey, spending time with them is a luxury that's not going to last forever.

They took care of me, loved me, adored me. And somedays, i just wanna bring them out and chill. have fun. walk, talk, eat. I must do that soon enough.

It takes courage to say sorry. It takes heart to forgive. It takes years to rebulid friendship.

I feel a big sense of weight lifted of my shoulders in the past 4 weekends. Exams are temporary over. Dont think i did very well today though.

Shopped with me today, walked with me today. Breathed town air with me today. (:

+

I need a more fluid running style.

ATG

Oh man i dont know why i'm so letargic tonight. cant focus today somehow. :/ Important to get good rest this week for the up coming race day!

On a happier note! Finally finalised the design of our training group tee shirt! Yayy! Havent decided on the colour and material yet, but should be yellow with black prints, and dri-fit material.

We've decided to call our athletics training group "M TRACKERS". M simply stands for Mr Melvin Tan, our long serving coach who puts in lots of delication and time into training athletes at no cost. We're fortunate NUS have engaged him which will no doubt help him in his finances. We salute him for his commitment and he expects no less from us. THANK YOU MR MELVIN TAN! :D

Off to bed for a good night's sleep!

results

Ok didnt exactly have a wonderful weekend after exams. Think i felt more accomplished last weekend when i spent my saturday and sunday in kr reading room. haha

anyways exams results are out and ok la.. I would say definitely much better than last semester. I'm not a brainy boy and definitely not academically inclined. Feel disappointed and sad knowing that fact but happy that i tried my best in all i do :D econs was a slight disappointment, H.math was a surprise, 1505 and mle could and should have done better if not for carelessness. EG1471 presentation was a breeze. But still have Electricaly Engg this coming sat. EEEPS..

YAYY FOR MOK AND DINAH IN SPORE BIATHLON! esp for dinah who has only been cycling and not swimming and running.

YAYY FOR ME TO COMPLETING TRAINING ON SATURDAY AND SLOPES ON SUNDAY :D

Feeling quite letargic today so will be doing gym in the morning tmr and track work in the evening.

First race on 2009 will be this coming weekend. do i feel ready? not really. but i'm determined to make it count and at least a sub 50 for 400. Sub 49 would be a surprise, but not impossible to accomplish. As for 100m, a sub 11 will do nicely thank you (:

Today has been such a rainy and cold day. It's been awhile.

A S H O R T SUN DAY

WOW time really flies when you're not having exams or studying. Since i carelessly lost 4 marks in a 20mark paper on thursday, friday whizzed by with classes, saturday morning spent phototaking of my sponsor; ASICS / runnersworld(spore) , came back home after 12days in NUS studying for midterms, had training from 3 to 6 at vjc with the M-trackers and added new photos to our group, came home, quick bath and change, and went for jumbo dinner with dad's friends and all. yummi mantous and black pepper crab :D then followed dad to another friends house to watch soccer/horseracing/golf. yes golf. zzzz. haha

Today, lets just say the sun had already passed the meridian even before i woke up. haha :D ok too much hmath and astronomy. And as a result, my quiet sunday has been pretty short. Went to do slopes to make up for last week's training session i missed as i had exams, and i just had a deja vu again! seems like everytime i go out for a run outside my estate areas i'll blog when i return home. haha

anyway today is family specials and have nice yummi steak prepared by my grandpa! hopefully he cooked it not too well done. prefer medium rare to medium done steaks :D

ASICS ROCKS!

Gel Speedstar

The perfect racer trainer. Ie) a trainer, for a racer.

The mesh like profile reduces weight and shoe's structure ensures a snug fit. Not an everyday out shoe, but definitely an everyday running shoe.

Light, breathable and offers good grip in all conditions. However it lacks slightly (compared to more cushion-structured shoes) in stability and durablilty. Arch support is also minimal.

For myself, it's definitely easier to stride in this rather than cushion-structured shoes, and offers sufficient amount of cushion. Only downside is it's durablilty. Dont think it will last more than 5 months with high usage.

DQQY

EXAMS OVER! ok for now. still one eg1108 on 14th march. After that will be running 100m at the 3rd all comers meet held in Bukit Gombak at 2pm. Hope to clock a sub-11s 100m! havent ran that distance since like JC2 in 2005, where my timing was 11.02. Hopefully my speed and technique have improved since then and since my acl injury.

Urgh. made 2 careless mistakes in math test :( easy questions. depressing man. haii. Could have done much better.

Anyhow, exams have really took a bumb in my trainings. Couldnt train when and what i want to. But it might be a good thing that i'm resting.

It's amazing how time flies sometimes, and how you find lost friends back after years of not hearing or seeing them. Sometimes it's both bittersweet to know what they've been doing in their life. Places they travelled, experiences they face, pictures that captures memories forever. Makes you wonder why you didnt treasure them when they were still around.

I realised i'm not a watch guy. And my birks have an average "useful" life of only 6 months. Doesnt help that the cork material absorbs water and holds it.

Thanks yixiang for the super codec.

ASICS GT 2130 REVIEW

I've been using this pair of ASICS GT 2130 for my trainings. As I am a sprinter, my trainings most of the time involves running on the "ball" of the feet, rather than "heel first".

It is generally a very stable and comfortable shoe.
However, downsides are it's weight and it's ability to hold it's structure(meaning it conforms easily to your foot posture, bad or good). Furthermore, the soles are not as grippy as compared to say, ASICS DS-Trainers, as the sole is made of a harder rubber, however, this means it is much more durable.
Nonetheless, it is definitely an everyday running shoe for recreational runners, as it provides superb cushion, stability, comfort, good colour matching and above all, durability.

all new car!

Oh man. i think "mycyberstealth" is going to be out of fashion soon!

ASICS have released their new super spikes, Cyber Aura.

another update. haha

HELLO AGAIN!

OK i so dont update this blog. haha and i dont know why i'm updating it in the middle of mid terms! haha

Let's see what i've been up to since the last post.

1) AUG. It was FUN :D Although i didnt run well in my 400m due to an unfortunate hamstring injury 3 weeks before competition, alittle miracle and panadol for muscle pain worked wonders and i came in strong for 4x400 running a 49+s. Nothing fantastic but the 4x4 race was soooo close. All first runners came in about the same time, but Subiash is a slow starter and by 600m into the race Spore was 20m behind and last! But Subiash dug deep and produced a superhuman effort to catch back the entire pack, before passing to Kenneth in 6th. Kenneth ran a monster of a race, over taking one on the first curve, and everyone else but Vietnam who was first, before handing over to Alex. Spore was 2nd and first just a stride infront. However Msia overtook both Spore and Vie, and Alex took the bunny and chased, unfortunately burning out the last 50m and dropping back to 5th. An exciting, gutsy race by all! :D

2) I've been taking lots of photographs lately and they've appeared in websites, mags and Straits Times! Of course they credited me the photos. hee :D

3) Mid terms! Didnt exactly screw up my first paper but could have definitely done MUCH BETTER. *Sulks

4) Trainings have been good and the rest inbetween days have been good so far as i feel much more energised and refreshed.

5) IHG TRACK. omg i dont even want to talk about it. But i rather run with a humble team(mate) anytime. And 11 claps for all our KR runners who i think ran superbly. :D

6) NUS has now 8 new good blocks! hooray! :D
